Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Tom Price Senior High School: Pathways to Opportunity, Built on Community.

It is my immense privilege to welcome you to Tom Price Senior High School (TPSHS) - a vibrant, community-focused school nestled in the stunning, picturesque landscape near Karijini National Park. We are more than just a school 1600km from Perth; we are a dedicated educational home for the communities of Tom Price, Paraburdoo, and the nearby Aboriginal communities of Wakuthuni and Bellary.

A Future-Ready Curriculum: Growing Opportunities for Every Child

At TPSHS, we are driven by our commitment to providing pathways for every student's success. We continually adapt our curriculum to meet the evolving needs of the local community and industry.

We are proud to announce the annual expansion of our face-to-face offerings for both university-bound students and those seeking vocational excellence:

  • VET Excellence: We are increasing the number of VET Certifications available, ensuring our students graduate with highly relevant, hands-on qualifications that lead directly to local employment and apprenticeships.
  • ATAR Rigour:We are also annually increasing the range of face-to-face ATAR subjects to provide more choices for students aiming for university entrance, ensuring a challenging and comprehensive academic experience.

This growth complements our established, outstanding programs:

  • STEM Leadership:Our acclaimed Centre of Resources Excellence (CoRE), including the Pilbara CoRE program (Years 7-10) and CoRE Science in Practice, provides essential learning through field trips and on-country learning.
  • Engagement and Service:One-third of our students participate in our thriving Emergency Services Cadets program, and our new Debating Club encourages critical thinking and public speaking.

Culture, Community, and Care: A Responsive Learning Environment

We are a culturally responsive school that views partnership with families as essential. Our vision is to inspire students to embrace their diversity and passion for learning, fostered within a community that lives by the values of Responsibility, Integrity, Personal Best, and Respect.

We are incredibly proud to host two flagship programs dedicated to empowering our students:

  • Polly Farmer Follow the Dream Program:This program is pivotal in inspiring and supporting our high-achieving Aboriginal students to pursue their academic dreams and leadership potential.
  • Shooting Stars Program:We champion the Shooting Stars program, which uses netball and other activities to promote empowerment, healthy lifestyles, and high attendance for our Aboriginal girls and young women.

Our Student Services Team provides holistic care through a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework and a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) for Academics, Engagement, and Attendance, guaranteeing wrap-around support for every student’s wellbeing and ensuring they find a true sense of belonging at TPSHS.

Join Our Team: A Career in a Supportive and Dynamic School

School Review

All Western Australian public schools are reviewed every three years by the Department of Education’s Public School Accountability directorate. A review gives assurance to the local community, the Minister for Education and Training and the Director General that a school is operating effectively and delivering high quality education to its students. The review acknowledges the achievements of the school and gives feedback to support the principal and staff with their improvement planning.

Our School Review can be viewed by clicking on the attachment.
